Elder Walker is adjusting just fine. I really am enjoying living in a 4-man apartment. I think it helps both of us be more comfortable. I know it helped me when I first came out. We are both kind of quiet people so if it was just the two of us it'd be super quiet. But having a couple other missionaries to have fun with makes it so much better. Elder Walker is really good at making sure we pray all the time. I tend to forget to have one before we start a lesson or other times throughout the day, but he remembers really well. He also is excited and willing to do whatever we decide to try.
We were able to meet and teach Dylan this week. We did it on Tuesday, so it was with Elder Ferrin, not with Elder Walker, but it was still good. We taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and there weren't really any concerns about it, but when we talked a bit about the Word of Wisdom for next time he said he is a little worried about tea. So we'll see how the lesson goes this week and how well we can do at addressing concerns with a real investigator.
So not a whole lot has happened, it's only been a few days since my last e-mail. But there has been some. Training isn't much different than being senior companion, except that you schedule in an extra hour of companion study to do the 12-week program. Though I am noticing that our companionship is a lot like how it was in the MTC. If there is an opportunity to talk or answer a question, I tend to do it. Also, I'm getting more practice with contacting and talking to people on the street. Before I was incredibly nervous about it, but now that I feel like I need to, I don't seem to have a problem with it anymore.
I am very glad that I was companions with Elder Camper before I trained because half of the time, when I tell Elder Walker something, I start out "Well Elder Camper taught me. . .", because I haven't seen or taught as many people as he had. So being able to pass on that wisdom is really nice, otherwise we'd just be doing roleplays all day. We still do a lot of roleplays though, and it's a lot of fun to be the one pretending to not be a missionary. It also lets me be a little ornery if I feel like it. Sometimes when we're talking it feels like I don't know much more than he does, but that's okay because it means that we can do and try whatever and see what works.
Today was Crossfit and it was 10 times more fun than last time because all the missionaries I know have had time to spread out and do things. Last time, I only knew like 6 people, and half of them were in Corona anyway. But this time I got to talk to some MTC people and they actually had stories, and I got to talk to missionaries who left Corona a while ago so it was so much fun. Elder Jewkes is on his 8th companion because of some shenanigans with companions going home, and thus being stuck with the ZLs or APs for a while. I also got to talk to Hermana Pitman, who is actually in Corona now, but I hadn't been able to sit down and see how she'd been doing yet. I also got to see some people who left Corona just last week and also see some of the other missionaries who were at the training meeting the other day and see how they're doing. It was super fun, though Crossfit was really hard. President didn't give us as much warning about the exercises so I didn't get to prepare as much, so by about the 5th set out of 7 I was pooped. In total we ran half a mile, did 50 burpees, 50 squat jacks, and 50 push-ups with hand lifts. It was really rough, but with friends around it doesn't matter.
Other than that, it's been a normal P-Day, and tomorrow is the temple trip, and then we'll be having DDM Wednesday and Thanksgiving Thursday, so the week will be more than a little atypical. Hopefully we can get a lot done though and prepare to share the video with others. We're also giving a little training to the ward on Sunday about the video as well as going to people's homes in order to get them thinking about who they can share the video with at this time. Maybe you guys can do that with Miguel and the boys. I hope Miguel will eventually let them get baptized, but if nothing else, it's not too long until they turn 18.
See you soon,
Elder Cornaby
