So nothing too eventful happened this week. But one cool teaching experience we had was with a less active member. We read and discussed the parables in Luke 15 and talked with this woman about how they apply to different members of the church. Then she made the comparison with the prodigal son that she can go back whenever she wants and that she will be accepted with open arms. I felt the Spirit testify to that truth when she said it and I think she did too. She's meeting with the bishop on Wednesday and we're hoping to see her back at church soon. She has a non-member boyfriend we're hoping to be able to teach as well. We met with a couple of new investigators, one who is very involved in his own church, but we're hoping that he is open-minded enough to read the Book of Mormon and see the value of it. We should be able to meet with him 2 or 3 times a week if he will let us because he is retired.
This past week has been a little gloomy; there's been rain and clouds a couple of days. Also the tail end of the transfer always makes things interesting, and you start to get tired of the same companions and the same area. Even if you stay in the same area, a fresh companion can put a new perspective on it. So we'll see how things go next week.
During this transfer, I feel like I have seen a little bit of growth in my companions as far as missionary work is concerned. I think they definitely have learned to expect that every day is going to be a full day of work and that things are what you make them. Because I'm the experienced Elder and Elder Herald is the veteran in the area, Elder Haltli has not really had too many opportunities to take responsibility for the work. I'm hoping that this last couple of weeks we can get some good things going so they have a fond memory of this area. I feel like Elder Herald is out for sure, and Elder Haltli is pretty likely to be transferred as well.
It's hard to say if the area has really changed too much since I've been here. There wasn't a whole lot going on when I got here, and now we only have 1 or 2 slightly solid investigators, and a pool of potentials. So it'll be better for whoever comes in than when I arrived, but it's not that Ward that everybody hopes they get transferred to. At least not yet anyway, we are still working on that goal.
