The Perris Ward itself is kind of small. It was split into two wards earlier this year, Perris and Lakeview, so now they are both smaller instead of being one huge ward. Something like 80% of the Perris Ward is less active, so it could be huge, there just aren't enough active members currently. We had our ward Christmas party this week, and that was pretty nice. We were able to meet a lot of people that way. We met the Bishopric and a few other families, and after Sunday I feel like I have a decent handle on the ward. We're also getting fed well so that is nice!

So for all the transfer news; I am going to the Perris Ward in the Menifee Zone. The ward is split, and I'm in the half that has a car whereas the other half is a bike area. Apparently it is one of the largest wards geographically in the whole mission. So that will be pretty exciting, but we will probably have to budget miles more carefully than we did driving around Corona. I'm also going to be in a trio again, with Elder Herald and Elder Haltli. Elder Herald has been out for 3 months and Elder Haltli has been out for 4 1/2 months. It will be interesting to be with young missionaries again, because it seems like once you've hit about 9 months, most missionaries are pretty much at the same level, but before that everybody has their strengths and weaknesses.
Thanksgiving Day 2016 - Corona Zone & Jurupa Zone Turkey Bowl Thanksgiving Weekend 2016 - Teaching the Espinoza Family
So Thanksgiving was pretty fun. We started the morning with a Turkey Bowl at a local middle school. We had a couple of members participate but it was mostly missionaries. We had the Corona Zone and the Jurupa Zone. After that we went home and worked on our sacrament meeting talks for a little while and weekly planning until it was time to go to the first of our two Thanksgiving dinners. The first dinner was with our Ward Mission Leader. I had not met him until Thanksgiving Day because he has been out of town for most of the time that I have been in this area. Dinner ended up not being ready until an hour later than we were expecting, but that was alright. He spent a majority of that time telling us about how hard his mission was and that he doesn't feel bad for us at all. He seems like he has a good heart though, just not much sympathy for our current stage of life.
Crossfit was today. The routine this time wasn't too hard, or at least it didn't seem like it was going to be too hard compared to some of the other routines we have done. But it was actually pretty brutal. I stuck through all the rounds, though I didn't do all the exercises. And then I almost puked for like 10 minutes, but I went and waited in the kitchen by the trash can where no one was, so I could preserve my pride a little bit. After I recovered, we made sure to head out and claim the parking lot for Ultimate, rather than soccer. If nothing else, I've left that mark on the mission. It always used to be soccer after Crossfit but I've displaced that, at least in whichever half of the mission I'm on.
We haven't seen any riots since the election, but we've heard that they are going on. One of our investigators is pretty interested in politics so he keeps us updated on what is going on most of the time. I don't really foresee there being any riots in the Riverside area, they would be in the bigger cities like Los Angeles or San Diego or in northern California.
Elder Cornaby & Sister McCulloch were both assigned to Corona when they first arrived in the California Riverside Mission in July 2015. Elder Walker was assigned to Corona in November 2015 when he arrived in the California Riverside Mission. They were all in the same district in the Corona Zone for several months last year during the Holidays. Now they are each serving in a different part of the mission, but are all on the Mission Leadership Council. So the monthly MLC meeting is like a reunion.
The Auburndale Ward covers everything in the Corona Stake that is north of the 91 freeway. So that is part of Corona, plus part of Norco. Apparently the other half of Norco is in the Jurupa Stake. The history of the boundaries is that apparently about 10 years ago there were 4 Stakes - Corona, Jurupa, Riverside, and Riverside West. But then Riverside West had to be dissolved and it got split up between the other 3 stakes kind of funky and that's why we have all these cities split between wards and stakes. Our building is at the top of what's called Beacon Hill, across from the prison that really is the "Hotel California". I am hopelessly lost most of time because none of the roads around here are straight! But I'm driving now so that should help me get more familiar with the area.
